Version 1.4 has 404 colours in total. The colours have been sorted into more obvious colour groups instead of the continuous rainbow blend of version 1.0. Many hours of research went into determining which colours to add, and naming them meaningful names.
Spectrum Swatch – Color Swatch Stickers for iMessage
I was finalising the update for Spectrum Swatch Stickers and saw that there were 399 stickers in total. So I added one to make it an even 400. Introducing: Avocado Toast!
I’m sorting all the new colours I’ve added to Spectrum Swatch. It’s actually really hard as I’m preparing for a much bigger app to be launched soon (spoilers!) and I’m trying to sort the colours so they’ll be listed in the same order for both apps. I have to start each section with the “definitive” […]
More greens added to Spectrum Swatch! I enjoyed naming Kakapo the best – a salute to my friends in/from NZ. Tonight I start the process of sorting the colors and checking for obvious gaps in the spectrum. Can’t wait to see how you use these stickers.
Some of the new blues coming to Spectrum Swatch (iMessage sticker pack). Gentian and Commelina are based on flowers, and Lazuli from the gemstone, lapis lazuli. The update is getting closer – just the neutrals updates to go! So many colours! I’m aiming for the end of June.
Holly Blue, Dark Plum and Canterbury Bell – just a sample of the new shades of purple added to Spectrum Swatch.
Just finished adding new greens to Spectrum Swatch. Most of the new colours have names from nature. This one, Margaritaria, is from this lovely little butterfly.
The update now has 348 of the planned 420 colors. This update will be HUGE! Concentrating on colors from nature this time. So far I’ve updated the Browns, Reds, Pinks, Oranges and some Yellows. Really looking forward to showing you the new Blues, Greens, Purples and Neutrals.
Some of the new oranges for Spectrum Swatch. Having a lot of fun naming colours from nature. Newt Belly? Seriously check it out on Google. Those little suckers are hiding quite the flash of colour. Acacia Gold is for the Aussies.
Powering away adding more colors to Spectrum Swatch.
I added Mission Brown after a convo with friends, talking about colours form the 70s.
Next version of Spectrum Swatch will have around 400 colours! Up from 259!
I’ve made 36 new colours for Spectrum Swatch. When I added them to the project in Xcode, it messed up the order of the colours! A bit of work ahead of me in manually re-sorting them. And I can’t sort them by file name, the Sorting option is greyed out. 😳😱
Adding more colours to Spectrum Swatch. Am loving the names of the new colours – all inspired by nature. 🦆🦋🦢☘️🍂🌻
Wow. Apparently Spectrum Swatch is ranking #3 in the Fashion stickers category in Australia!
Here’s an example of the stickers in use in a client scenario.
Spectrum Swatch has 259 color swatches – a full spectrum of colors plus a wide range of neutrals: reds, oranges, yellows, greens, teals, blues, purples, pinks, browns, whites, grays and blacks. All these colors, easily accessibly in the sticker drawer of iMessage.
Looks like Spectrum Swatch will go live after Christmas now 😞. So I’ll post some more info about the app in the meantime. This is the first screen shot from the App Store. It tells you what the app is called (Spectrum Swatch), what it is (color swatch stickers), and shows one sticker in the middle […]
Ah pretty. This is what all the various iOS icons for Spectrum Swatch look like in Xcode. All ready for uploading. And yes – a new icon for the new swatch shape.
What’s this? Well, I’m glad you asked. This is the shape of things to come. Based on feedback from other designers, I completely redesigned the Spectrum Swatch Stickers.
Testing the Spectrum Swatch stickers – the different blacks look GREAT with the brightness turned up to max.
Close to launching! A little more testing and finalising the screen shots!
Getting my screenshots done for Spectrum Swatch. Here’s the iPad 12.9 intro screenshot.
Well that escalated quickly. Spectrum Swatch to be available by the weekend! Watch this space.
